See Your Real Reachable Audience: Email, SMS & Push

Every segment in your Segments list now shows its exact reachable customer count for Email, SMS, and Web Push, right alongside the segment. No more guessing before you launch a campaign; check the numbers and plan with confidence.

See Your Real Reachable Audience: Email, SMS & Push

How Many Customers Can You Actually Reach on Email, SMS, or Push?

You build a segment. It says "12,000 customers." You launch the campaign, and reach a fraction of that.

Not because the segment was wrong, but because "12,000 customers" and "12,000 reachable customers" are two very different numbers. Some don't have a phone number on file. Some unsubscribed from email months ago. Some never opted into push notifications at all.

Most marketers only find out the real number after a campaign underperforms. Mergn now shows it to you before you send.

The problem with segment size alone

Segment size answers "how many customers match these conditions?" It doesn't answer "how many of them can I actually message?"

That gap matters more than it looks:

  • Email reach is capped by unsubscribes, bounces, and missing addresses.
  • SMS reach depends on opt-in consent and whether a valid phone number exists.
  • Web Push reach is limited to customers who accepted browser notifications, often the smallest of the three.

Without visibility into this, marketers plan campaigns around a headline number that was never achievable, then have to explain the gap after the fact.

What's new in Mergn

Every segment in your Segments list now shows its exact reachable count for each channel: Email, SMS, and Web Push, side by side, at a glance.

No extra clicks. No exporting a list to check consent status. No launching a campaign just to find out. Open a segment like "VIP Repeat Buyers" and you'll see its reachable count for each channel right there: thousands reachable by email, a smaller but still solid number by SMS, and fewer still by Web Push, since browser opt-ins are typically the rarest of the three.

Why this changes how you plan campaigns

You can pick the right channel for the job. If a segment's SMS reach is thin but email reach is strong, that's your answer, before you waste time drafting SMS copy for a list that can't receive it.

You can set realistic goals. A campaign target based on reachable count is a target you can actually hit. One based on raw segment size sets you up to miss.

You can spot list-health problems early. A segment with a big gap between total size and reachable size is telling you something. Maybe it's time for a re-permission campaign, or a phone-number capture prompt at checkout.

You stop overpromising to stakeholders. "This segment has 12,000 customers" and "we can reach 8,214 of them by email" are both true, but only one belongs in a campaign forecast.

How to use it

Open your Segments list. The reachable counts for Email, SMS, and Web Push are already there next to every segment, no setup required. Use them to decide which channel to lead with, whether a segment needs list-health work first, and what a realistic campaign forecast actually looks like.

Segment insights just got smarter. Now in Mergn.
